IBO Player Setup Guide for Your IPTVMotion Subscription

IBO Player is the only application we support, and deliberately so: it runs on virtually every platform, including the non-Android smart televisions that most IPTV apps ignore. This guide takes you from a blank device to a working channel wall, whichever kit sits under your telly.

Before You Begin

Have two things to hand: the email containing your IPTVMotion credentials, and the device you intend to watch on. If you have not ordered yet, pick a length on the pricing page first — credentials arrive within minutes and unlock the complete channel line-up. The whole process takes about the length of an advert break.

  • Your streaming line, or your Xtream host, username and password — whichever we issued
  • A working internet connection of roughly 15 Mbps or better
  • Ten minutes, and the television remote

One point worth understanding up front, because it trips people up: IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. You do not type your credentials into the app itself. Instead you register them on the IBO Player website, and their system pushes the playlist down to your device. It feels odd the first time and is perfectly normal.

The Five-Step Overview

  1. Install IBO Player on your deviceDownload IBO Player from the official IBODEV website for your platform — Android, Windows, macOS, Amazon streaming stick, or the LG and Samsung television app stores.
  2. Find your MAC address and Device KeyOpen IBO Player and select the profile icon on the dashboard. The Device Info panel at the top left shows the MAC address and Device Key you will need in the next step.
  3. Log in to the playlist portalOn the IBO Player website choose Manage Playlist, then enter the MAC address and Device Key you just noted to reach your playlist management area.
  4. Add your IPTVMotion playlistSelect Add Playlist, give it a name, paste the streaming line we sent you on WhatsApp into the Playlist URL field, and save. If you were issued Xtream-format credentials, use Add XC Playlist and enter the host, username and password instead.
  5. Refresh the app and start watchingReturn to IBO Player and press the data refresh button on the dashboard. The channel wall, programme guide and on-demand shelf populate within a few seconds.

Device-specific instructions follow below. Find yours, work through it, then come back to the playlist section.

Installing on Each Device

Amazon Fire TV Stick, Fire Cube and Fire TV
  1. From the Fire TV home screen, move up to the magnifier icon and open the search field.
  2. Search for Downloader — typing the letter D usually brings it up as the first suggestion. Select it and install it.
  3. When prompted, allow Downloader access to media on your device.
  4. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and switch on Install Unknown Apps for Downloader. If Developer Options is not visible, open About and press OK on the remote seven times to reveal it.
  5. Open Downloader, select the address field, and enter the official IBO Player code 511693, then choose Go.
  6. Let the download finish without touching the remote, then work through the Next and Install prompts.
  7. Open the app, accept the welcome message, and continue to the playlist section below.
Android phones, tablets, boxes and Android TV
  1. Open Settings → Security and enable installation from unknown sources, so the device will accept an installer from outside the Play Store.
  2. Download the IBO Player installation file from the official IBODEV website using the device’s browser.
  3. Your browser will warn you that the file came from outside the store. Choose Download anyway.
  4. Open the downloaded file from the notification shade or the Downloads folder, then select Install.
  5. Launch the app. An introductory screen explains the playlist process — select OK to dismiss it.

Only ever take the installer from the developer’s own website. Files from random mirrors are a well-known route for malware.

LG and Samsung smart televisions
  1. Open the LG Content Store or the Samsung Apps store from your television’s home screen.
  2. Select the search icon and type IBO Player.
  3. Choose the entry named exactly “IBO Player”. Several similarly named apps exist — ignore them.
  4. Select Install, then Launch once it finishes.
  5. A welcome message appears on first run. Continue to the playlist section below.

This is the reason we standardised on IBO Player. Non-Android television operating systems are closed and awkward to develop for, which is why most IPTV applications never appear on LG WebOS or Samsung Tizen at all. IBO Player does, and it behaves properly on both.

Windows 10 and Windows 11
  1. Download the 64-bit Windows installer from the official IBO Player website. Windows 10 or newer is required.
  2. Windows SmartScreen will interrupt because the file came from outside the Microsoft Store. Select More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Work through the installer: Next, optionally tick the desktop shortcut, Next again, then Install.
  4. Select Finish to launch IBO Player.
macOS — MacBook and iMac
  1. Download the macOS build from the IBO Player website.
  2. Open the downloaded file and drag the application icon into your Applications folder.
  3. Open Launchpad and select the app. macOS will refuse to launch it the first time because it was not installed from the App Store — this is expected.
  4. Open the Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the security section near the bottom, and choose Open Anyway.
  5. Confirm with Open Anyway once more. The permission is permanent — subsequent launches are normal.

Adding Your IPTVMotion Playlist

With the app installed, this is the part that actually switches your service on. Remember: the credentials go onto the IBO Player website, not into the app.

  1. Open the app’s Device InfoOn the IBO Player dashboard, select the profile icon. The panel at the top left displays your MAC address and Device Key. Write both down.
  2. Go to Manage Playlist on the IBO Player websiteFrom the site’s top menu, choose Manage Playlist and sign in using the MAC address and Device Key from the previous step.
  3. Choose your playlist typeIf we sent you a single long streaming line, select Add Playlist. If we sent a host address with a username and password, select Add XC Playlist instead.
  4. Fill in the fieldsGive the playlist any name you like. Paste the streaming line into Playlist URL, or enter the host, username and password for the Xtream method. Leave the XMLTV EPG field empty unless you have your own guide source — ours is embedded already. Tick Protect This Playlist if you want a PIN on it.
  5. Save, then refresh on the deviceSelect Save, return to IBO Player, and press the data refresh button along the bottom of the dashboard. Channels, guide and on-demand content appear within seconds.

Getting the Most From the App

Fix the cluttered Live TV layout

Out of the box, the Live TV screen uses a layout that crowds long channel names underneath the preview window and squashes the programme guide. It is the first thing worth changing. From the dashboard, select the screen icon beside the Wi-Fi symbol to open Live Screen Style, switch it from the default to the alternative option, and save. Channel names get room to breathe and the guide lines up properly. Press the left arrow on your remote at any time to bring the category column back into view.

Trim 27,000 channels down to a usable list

Open Settings → Manage Categories and switch off the groups you will never watch. Most British households disable the bulk of the international sections listed on our channel line-up page, which reduces the visible list to something you can actually scroll in a few seconds. Nothing is deleted — switch a category back on at any point.

Favourites and search

On the channel list, press and hold OK on any channel and choose Add to drop it into your favourites; a heart appears beside the name and the favourites folder sits at the top of the category column. The search function lives in the bottom-left corner of the Live TV screen and looks across every category at once. It matches on specific terms, so a partial word works better than a misremembered full name.

Parental control

Under Settings → Parental Control you can put a PIN on the application. The initial code is 0000 even though you never set it — change it immediately. Forgotten your PIN? Reset it from the playlist portal on the IBO Player website.

Choosing a playback engine

If a particular channel stutters while everything else is fine, Settings → Live TV Player lets you switch between the built-in Android player, EXO Player and VLC. The codec libraries for EXO and VLC ship inside the app. Trying a different engine resolves most single-channel playback oddities.

Clearing the cache

Corrupted artwork, a programme guide showing the wrong listings, or sluggish menus almost always clear up with Settings → Clear Cache. Try this before contacting us — it fixes the majority of reported faults on its own, and the FAQ covers the rest.

Troubleshooting

Nothing appeared after I saved the playlist

Press the data refresh button on the app dashboard — the app does not always poll on its own. If it is still empty, close the app completely and reopen it. Failing that, check you entered the MAC address and Device Key for the right device: people with two installations frequently register the playlist against the wrong one.

The picture freezes or pixelates during peak hours

Restart the router and the streaming device first. Switch to a wired connection if a socket is within reach. If a VPN is running, turn it off to rule it out — a distant or overloaded VPN endpoint is the single most common cause we find. Then try a different playback engine as described above.

The programme guide is empty or wrong

Clear the cache, then refresh the data. Make sure the XMLTV EPG field on the portal is blank — a third-party guide source entered there overrides ours and often mismatches the channel list.

I have changed television or streaming stick

Install the app on the new device, note its new MAC address and Device Key, and message the desk. We reissue the playlist against the new device at no charge. Do keep the old installation switched off, since only one device may be active at a time.

macOS or Windows refuses to open the app

Both operating systems block installers that did not come from their own store. On Windows choose More info then Run anyway; on macOS approve it under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Both approvals are one-off.
